What should you wear?
You need to be able to complete the warm up session, grip the pole effectively, have freedom of movement & feel comfortable. Bare legs are essential if you want to grip the pole (you will slip with tights or trousers). The ideal outfit is short shorts or hot-pants, something comfortable but not restrictive on your top half. Sneakers are fine for the warm-up session and ideally high heels (shoes or boots) for the rest of the class (no bare feet please). Heels have the advantage of giving you that strut & helping you feel the part. The ideal shoes have high heels & a strap across the top.
Exercise Benefits
Pole dancing is a lot more strenuous than it looks; a good session on the pole can burn more calories than a good session in the gym and will certainly provide more muscle tone. Imagine having to support your entire weight with one arm or supporting your upper body weight with your stomach muscles. This will give you an idea of the level of fitness that is involved.
You can expect all over toning as well as increased muscle definition. Your arms, thighs & buttocks have never looked this good! And better still. you can expect to burn around 250 calories per session.
